Countdown

my week thus far

How could it have been a week already? Man, the time is flying by.

Saturday July 3
Saturday Jim and I met up at Dunkin Donuts at 9:30. Man, that was a stressful morning. I wanted to look great, but I didn't want to make it seem like I was TRYING to look great. In the car I just chattered away about hanging out with J and all we had been up to. We sat there for hours; so long in fact that J showed up, totally catching me by surprise. Jim thought it was all on purpose though. That's when the tears started. So we packed up and headed back to the car. I dried my eyes and I don't even remember how, but we started kissing in his car. It was great, it was those passionate kisses, the ones that really get you going. And believe me, we both were going. He said he didn't want to lead me on, and then he talked about how attractive he thought I was, especially that day. We went back to my apartment, under the pretense of him looking at the book on Reagan my kids had written. And then we had sex. Twice in fact. And oral sex. It was great. We had been going through a bit of a dry spell, in big part due to me being on the pill, and it was just so nice to feel aroused in a way I hadn't been in a long time. It used to make me feel bad, because it wasn't like I wasn't attracted to Jim, it was just that I didn't really feel like having sex. Finally he left around 4 and I called J, who was having a fit because she couldn't get in touch with me and she was very worried. That night we went out to this bar and it was in the same building that Jim works in. Seems a little odd, but it's a great place to hang out, plus I figured I only had a slim chance of running into him that night. Poor J had a bad night, she ran into 2 of her exes. So we drank the night away. We came back and invited her downstairs neighbor and his brother upstairs. They too had been at the same bar, in fact her neighbor knows one of her exes, which seems so odd to me. I didn't want to stay there, I wasn't all to excited to sleep on her couch, so I called Jim. It was like after 2 in the morning yet I knew I could call him. Plus I missed him so much. Oddly enough he was at work, so he came right over to pick me up. When we came back to my apartment, we had sex again and he stayed the night.

Sunday, July 4
It was really hard to see him go in the morning. It was also really odd to not be hanging out with him that day. But he went off to his company's 4th of July party and thankfully, I had plans with J. She and I had decided to watch the concert down in DC and see the fireworks. We trekked down in the often POURING rain and staked out a good spot on the Capitol steps. It stills seems odd to me - the Capitol steps? It makes me excited that we can even do something like that. It's like as patriotic as you can get. Even though it was pouring rain, we came prepared. We had this huge tarp that we just pulled over ourselves until the rain finally stopped. The concert was good, but the fireworks were amazing. Since everyone and their brother seemed to be there, we decided to go for a short walk around the Capitol, in search of a bar. We ended up going to Hawk and Dove, which is a pretty cool place that I had wanted to go to, but Jim and I never seemed to get around to it. We had some dinner and a drink and then we headed home.

On Monday J and I hung out at our friend's pool for like 10 minutes before the clouds rolled in, very annoying I must say. Especially since the pool is not exactly close by, and my own building has a pool. But our friend is pregnant, and on bed rest, so it was nice to visit her. That night we went out to a couple of bars in Ballston, but it was pretty dead.

Tuesday June 6
Tuesday we set off to go to the pool at our friend's townhouse, encouraged by the fact that not a cloud was in sight. J was pretty pissed off when we got there and the pool was closed. Apparently they decided to count the 4th as being a Monday holiday, so the pool was closed on Tuesday. So stupid. So we headed back to my pool and stayed there all afternoon. Since it was such a nice night as well we decided to head off to Georgetown. At the first bar we met this guy named Dirk, which we found very funny, given the whole porn star thing. Definitely not a porn star though. He was actually a somewhat attractive assistant principal, but we weren't interested so we left for another bar. At the next bar J and I caught sight of these cute guys out with a bunch of their friends. It was so junior high, because we saw them, and we waved and they waved and then one of the guys came over but then he just stood there, didn't say anything for like 3 minutes and then he went back. So then we caught their eye again and through body language were just like, what's up with that. Finally they came over and introduced themselves, and I was kind of worried because I thought J and I were into the same guy but when they went to get us another drink we chatted. My guy's name is Jeff and he's 30 and from Manhattan. Her guy's name is Mike, a little younger but also from Manhattan. Very sad that they were only be in town for another like week and a half. But Jeff gave me his number and we are going to meet up tonight (Thursday) in Clarendon. That night I got drunk for the first time in a long time (when my friend Mike turned 21 about two weeks after my own 21st - ugh) So J dropped me off because I knew I was not going to have a pretty morning.

Wed July 7
Sure enough, when I woke up around 9 I was sick to stomach and after making the very unwise choice to drink some water I puked my guts out. Then I went back to bed until like 1. J and I hung out with a friend at her apartment and then we headed out to Home Depot to find some stuff for her new place. Afterwards we went out to Ballston for dollar pints and met these two cute military men. I love how J and I can go out, find cute guys and not be interested in the same ones. I liked J, a former teacher from the south with the cutest accent. She liked M, who was a little younger but he smoked so I thought he was really yucky. We didn't get any numbers though because my friend J was not feeling very well. I think it was probably the combo of beer and Taco Bell. When we got back we invited up cute neighbor and had some wine and watched some ridiculous reality romance show on TV.
